T&C Logistics provides same-day road-leg support for international freight forwarders operating through Heathrow. We handle inbound collections from LHR cargo sheds, outbound deliveries to airline warehouses and CFS, and ADR-compliant hazardous cargo—backed by CMR documentation and signed POD chain of custody.

International freight forwarders—from global carriers like Kuehne+Nagel, DHL Global Forwarding, DSV, Expeditors, Bolloré, CEVA, and Yusen—manage air freight booking, customs clearance, and global logistics networks, but often lack their own UK domestic road fleet. That's where we come in. T&C Logistics is a Thames Valley–based same-day courier and road-leg specialist covering the Heathrow catchment. We handle the critical UK domestic link: collecting inbound cargo from Heathrow's cargo terminals and delivering outbound shipments to airline warehouses and centralised freight stations (CFS) ahead of cut-offs. Whether you're moving lithium batteries to a CFS, collecting dangerous goods from a consignor, or delivering time-critical parcels to consignees across the South East, our Heathrow collections service and Heathrow hub expertise ensure seamless handoff between your air freight operation and the UK ground network.

Why forwarders use a road-leg partner at LHR

Freight forwarding is a global, document-heavy business. A major international forwarder manages airline bookings, IATA DGR compliance, customs documentation, and the complex logistics of moving cargo across continents. However, the critical domestic piece—moving goods from a UK consignor to Heathrow, or from Heathrow's cargo sheds to a UK consignee—requires local expertise, real-time availability, and regulatory knowledge that a centralised forwarding operation cannot always provide in-house.

This is the road-leg gap. With 10,776 UK courier companies operating across a £17.4 billion market, the logistics ecosystem is fragmented. Forwarders need partners who can move fast, understand Heathrow's operational rhythms, and handle both routine and complex cargo—including dangerous goods, temperature-sensitive shipments, and high-value items. We are that partner. Based in the Thames Valley with 24/7 dispatch and 365-day coverage, we specialise in the same-day road-leg work that keeps your air freight operation moving. Our ULEZ-compliant fleet, verified 5.0/5 Google Reviews, and ADR-trained drivers mean you can focus on international logistics while we handle the ground.

Outsourcing the road leg also reduces your overhead. Instead of maintaining a fleet dedicated to Heathrow collections, you pay only for the movements you need—whether that's recurring account arrangements, spot rates, or complex shipments like lithium ion batteries or Class 9 dangerous goods.

The UK air-freight and international-logistics addressable market: 3,093 air-transport companies + 88,659 transport-and-logistics firms + 15,441 London-based logistics operators. Within the Heathrow catchment, Slough (1,263 logistics operators) and Reading (573) sit as feeder ecosystems, and London's 86,820 tech companies drive substantial inbound and outbound cargo flows via LHR.

Inbound: LHR to consignee

Cargo arrives at London Heathrow every day from across the world. Your forwarding operation will have cleared it with UK customs, and now it needs to reach its final destination. Here's how our inbound collection flow works:

Cargo shed locations and access: Heathrow's inbound freight is distributed across multiple cargo terminals. BA World Cargo Centre (T3/T4 area), Heathrow Cargo Terminal (LHR-South, operated by Swissport), and Heathrow Central Cargo Complex (HCCC, operated by DHL and others) handle the majority of air freight. Each has its own operating hours, access protocols, and documentation requirements. Our drivers know the geography—where to present your House Airway Bill (HAWB), which desks to queue at, and how to coordinate with the cargo handlers. We maintain current authorisation and CFS-partner relationships, so access is seamless.

Collection coordination: Your customs broker or internal clearance team will have released the cargo for road movement. You provide us with the shipment reference, consignee address, any special handling notes (fragile, hazmat, perishable), and the target delivery window. We dispatch same-day and collect from the nominated shed. The driver captures photographic POD and obtains the cargo shed's release stamp or signature—the proof that goods have left the terminal.

Final-mile delivery: We deliver to the consignee within the South East and beyond. For time-critical shipments, we support next-available or specific time-window delivery. For hazardous goods, we ensure driver compliance with loading procedures and provide the signed CMR with DG endorsement. For temperature-sensitive cargo—pharmaceuticals, perishables—we use our temperature-controlled vehicles.

Across the UK, there are 89,104 logistics businesses, but only a handful operate with the operational precision and same-day capability that Heathrow requires. Our Thames Valley base puts us 30–45 minutes from LHR's main cargo terminals, giving us the speed to collect and deliver within the same working day.

Outbound: consignor to LHR

The reverse flow is equally critical. Your UK client has goods ready for export, and they need to land at Heathrow in time to meet the airline's documentary cut-off and load cut-off. Missing the cut-off means the shipment sits for another 12–24 hours, costing your customer time and you revenue.

Pre-planned pickups: Many forwarders provide us with a forward schedule—e.g., "Tuesday and Thursday collections in the M4 corridor, deliver to BA World Cargo Centre by 17:00 same day." We build recurring account arrangements around these patterns. Your consignors know our collection window, and we provide reliability so they plan accordingly.

Cut-off coordination: The airline and your ground handler set documentary and load cut-offs. Typically, air freight must be delivered to the CFS or airline warehouse 3–6 hours before the aircraft pushes back. We work backward from that deadline, factoring in traffic, consignor readiness, and terminal processing. If a shipment is ready at 14:00 and the cut-off is 19:00, we have a 5-hour window—tight but manageable for the South East and parts of the Midlands. For consignors further afield, we'll flag the risk upfront and suggest an earlier collection or alternative cut-off.

Nominated CFS drop-off: You'll instruct us to deliver to a specific airline warehouse, centralised freight station, or handling agent. BA World Cargo Centre, Swissport's Heathrow Cargo Terminal, Kuehne+Nagel's Heathrow CFS, or DHL's HCCC—we know them all. The driver presents the CMR, consignment note, and any DG documentation, obtains the facility's acceptance stamp, and confirms receipt. We then send you the POD—photograph, timestamp, and facility signature—so you can confirm handoff to your ground handler.

Documentation handoff: Before collection, you provide the HAWB reference, consignor address, destination CFS, any DG declarations (if hazmat), weight, dimensions, and handling notes. We capture this in our booking and cross-reference it with the CMR. This ensures the road-leg paperwork aligns with your air freight booking.

DGR / hazardous cargo

Heathrow moves significant volumes of dangerous goods—lithium ion batteries (UN3480/UN3481), Class 9 materials, Class 3 flammable liquids, and others. IATA DGR and UK ADR compliance is non-negotiable. We are ADR-trained and certified to handle permitted dangerous goods classes.

What we handle: Class 3 (flammable liquids), Class 4 (flammable solids, spontaneously combustible), Class 5 (oxidisers, organic peroxides), Class 6 (toxic, infectious substances—biological samples included), Class 8 (corrosives), Class 9 (miscellaneous), and lithium batteries (UN3480 equipment, UN3481 spare batteries) under IATA DGR packaging standards. Our drivers are trained in loading procedures, placarding, and segregation. We maintain vehicle documentation showing DG authorisation and driver certification. We provide CMR with DG endorsement, and consignment notes clearly mark hazard class and UN number.

What we do not offer: Radioactive material (Class 7) and explosives (Class 1) are not handled. We also do not offer NPPV (Newt Proof Personnel Vehicle) endorsements or developed vetting for security-sensitive cargo. For these specialist areas, we'll recommend appropriately licensed partners.

Lithium batteries—the most common air-freight hazmat: Lithium ion batteries require careful packaging, labelling, and segregation. You'll have already ensured IATA-compliant packaging and documentation. Our role is to transport the shipment securely from consignor to CFS, keeping the packaging sealed and documentation intact. A typical lithium shipment might be 50 kg of batteries in a Class 9 box, requiring DG stickers, documentation, and driver training. We handle hundreds of these movements per year. See our detailed hazardous goods service for more.

The UK dangerous goods logistics market is tightly regulated by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Office of Rail and Road (ORR). Non-compliance can result in prosecution, vehicle impoundment, and loss of operating licence. Our ADR training and compliance record ensure that your cargo moves safely and legally, protecting both your licence and your customer relationships.

Customs, EORI, and paperwork

Customs clearance is your responsibility—handled by your internal clearance team or a nominated customs broker. We do not clear cargo; we move it. However, the paperwork that accompanies the shipment must be correct, and our CMR must reference the right EORI number and customs declarations.

What you (the forwarder) provide: Entry/exit declarations, commodity codes, VAT treatment, tariff classification, proof of origin (e.g., commercial invoice, packing list). Your customs broker will have filed these with HMRC or the relevant authority before the shipment leaves the warehouse or lands at Heathrow.

What we provide: CMR consignment note showing consignor, consignee, merchandise description (aligned with your air freight documentation), weight, dimensions, and your EORI number in the "Creditor" or "Account" field. Our POD chain of custody confirms handoff at each stage—collection from consignor, arrival at our facility (if consolidating), and final delivery to consignee or CFS. This chain is essential for customs audit trails and proves to HMRC that the goods moved as declared.

For inbound collections at Heathrow, the cargo will already have been customs-cleared before we collect. Our role is to move it from the cargo shed to its final destination, keeping documentation intact. For outbound movements, customs declaration happens at the consignor end; we transport the declared goods to the CFS. Learn more about the customs context in our customs broker glossary and EORI number guide.

Booking, quote, and rate cards

Booking with us is straightforward. For recurring forwarder accounts, we establish a rate card covering your typical lanes—e.g., Heathrow to London postcodes, Midlands collections to Heathrow CFS, South Coast deliveries. Rates typically vary by weight, distance, and service tier (standard same-day vs. time-critical).

Quote process: Use our online quote form, providing origin, destination, weight, dimensions, any special requirements (hazmat, temperature control, etc.), and preferred collection/delivery window. We respond within hours with a fixed quote. Alternatively, call us at +44 7963 400173 (06:00–17:00) or +44 7737 778964 (08:00–22:00) for real-time chat.

Spot rates: One-off shipments are quoted individually. Recurring accounts (e.g., weekly Heathrow collections) are discounted. We'll work with you on contract terms if you have sufficient volume.

"Freight forwarding is about trust and reliability. Your customers depend on you to deliver on time; we depend on us to deliver on time. A single missed cut-off damages relationships. Our Thames Valley base and same-day capability mean we're the local road-leg partner who doesn't let you down." —Taras, Founder, T&C Logistics

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you handle IATA DGR and ADR dangerous goods?
Yes. We are ADR-certified and handle permitted dangerous goods classes: Class 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and lithium batteries (UN3480, UN3481). We do not handle Class 1 (explosives) or Class 7 (radioactive). Drivers are trained in loading, placarding, and segregation. CMR includes DG endorsement, and all documentation is compliant with IATA DGR standards.
How do you coordinate Heathrow cut-offs?
We work backward from the airline's documentary and load cut-offs (typically 3–6 hours before departure). You provide the target delivery time to your CFS or airline warehouse; we plan the collection and route to meet it. For recurring accounts, we build recurring schedules. For spot pickups, we confirm the collection window with you and flag if timing is tight (e.g., consignor distance, traffic, terminal processing).
Can we set up a recurring forwarder account with fixed rates?
Absolutely. We offer rate cards for regular lanes and recurring pickups. Provide your typical weekly or bi-weekly schedule—collection locations, destination CFS, time windows—and we'll quote a fixed rate or tiered pricing. Recurring accounts include dedicated dispatch priority and direct phone contact.
Which Heathrow cargo terminals and CFS do you deliver to?
We deliver to BA World Cargo Centre, Heathrow Cargo Terminal (Swissport), Heathrow Central Cargo Complex (HCCC, DHL and partners), and major forwarder CFS including Kuehne+Nagel and DHL Heathrow facilities. We're familiar with access protocols, opening hours, and documentation requirements at each. Confirm the nominated drop-off in your booking.
Do you handle customs clearance and EORI documentation?
No. Customs clearance is your role or your customs broker's. We handle the road-leg paperwork: CMR, consignment notes (with your EORI referenced), POD chain of custody, and hazmat endorsements if applicable. This ensures your customs audit trail is complete and proves goods moved as declared.
