Pool plant goes into plant rooms, and plant rooms are almost always the worst-accessed space in the building - below ground, down a stair, behind a door sized for a person rather than a filter vessel. That is the job, and it is why pool equipment is not a pallet-network delivery.

What pool and spa equipment does T&C Logistics move?

Sand and cartridge filters, circulation pumps, pool heat pumps and boilers, heat exchangers, UV and ozone units, automatic dosing systems, sauna and steam cabins, hot tub shells, pool covers and reels, and plant room pipework and valves.

Filter vessels are the defining item. A commercial sand filter is bulky and awkward rather than heavy when empty, and the diameter usually decides whether it reaches the plant room at all. Sand itself is delivered separately and by weight - a single filter can take several hundred kilograms of media, which arrives palletised.

Vehicle choice runs from a Luton van with tail lift to a 7.5-tonne truck, with two-person handling as standard.

Can you carry pool chemicals?

Yes, where the load is correctly classified. Chlorine donors, acids and alkalis used in pool water treatment are classified dangerous goods for road transport, and our drivers hold ADR certification.

This matters because pool chemicals are not incidental to the sector - a commercial pool consumes them continuously, and a plant delivery frequently wants to include them. Calcium hypochlorite, sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid and pH correction chemicals each carry their own classification, and some are oxidisers that must not travel alongside incompatible substances.

Why is plant room access the deciding factor?

Because plant rooms are built around the plant, not around getting it in and out later. A filter installed during construction may have no route out that does not involve dismantling something.

The recurring pattern is a plant room below pool level, reached by a stair or a hatch, with a door narrower than the filter vessel's diameter. Domestic pools are frequently worse: a plant room in a garden building at the end of a lawn a loaded vehicle cannot cross, or under a decked area with a hatch.

Establish before the vehicle is allocated: the doorway width and height, the number and type of steps, the carry distance from where a vehicle can stand, and whether the route crosses grass or soft ground. Photographs are worth more than descriptions here. Where filter media is part of the delivery, remember that several hundred kilograms of sand has to travel the same route in 25 kg bags.

Do you install or commission the equipment?

No. We deliver and position; plumbing, electrical connection, filling, chemical balancing and commissioning stay with your installer or service engineer.

The boundary is straightforward in this sector. Pool water treatment is a technical discipline with its own guidance - the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group publishes the standards most commercial UK operators work to - and commissioning a treatment system is not something a carrier touches. Electrical work in a plant room is in a wet environment with its own requirements.

What we contribute is placement in the right order. In a plant room the filter usually has to go in before the pipework that will later block the door, and the heat pump before the dosing panel that sits in front of it. Does a pool heat pump have the same rules as refrigeration?

Yes. A pool heat pump contains a sealed refrigerant circuit with a compressor, so it travels upright and is subject to the same settling considerations as commercial refrigeration.

Tilting a sealed refrigerant circuit past roughly 45 degrees allows compressor lubricant to migrate into the discharge line, and running the compressor afterwards can cause it to seize. Manufacturers commonly specify an upright settling period before power-up where a unit has been laid down, stated in the installation manual.

Refrigerant work itself is regulated: under the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations 2015, opening a refrigerant circuit requires an engineer holding an F-Gas category qualification working for a certified company. Can you handle seasonal peaks?

Yes, and this sector has a sharper season than most. Domestic pool work concentrates in spring, commercial refurbishment concentrates in the closed period, and both compress a year of installations into a few months.

The practical consequence is that capacity in April and May is harder to get than in November, and that is true across the whole supply chain rather than just transport. Installers who book delivery capacity alongside their equipment orders fare better than those arranging transport when the equipment arrives.

Commercial operators have the opposite pattern: plant replacement happens during a planned closure, which is a fixed window that cannot slip. Those jobs are scheduled to the closure rather than to a delivery date, and out-of-hours work is normal. Vehicles are GPS-tracked and drivers hold Driver CPC.

What happens to old plant?

Pumps, heat pumps and control systems are electrical and fall under WEEE when scrapped; filter vessels are usually GRP or steel. T&C Logistics holds Environment Agency upper tier registration CBDU654368 as a waste carrier, broker and dealer.

Pool plant replacement generates a full plant room of old equipment that has to leave the same difficult route the new equipment came in by. Electrical items fall under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013, and heat pumps additionally require refrigerant recovery by a qualified engineer before treatment, under the F-Gas regulations.

Old filter media is a separate matter and is usually handled by the installer, since it comes out wet and heavy. We carry to a partner-operated permitted treatment facility and do not treat or recycle equipment ourselves; documentation is issued by the processor. See our WEEE collection service.

Can you deliver a hot tub to a domestic garden?

Yes, and the access route is the entire job. A hot tub shell is 200-450 kg, roughly two metres square, and it has to reach a garden that was rarely designed with that in mind.

The standard route is through a side gate or across a driveway, with the tub on edge on a set of rollers or a sack-truck arrangement. That needs a clear path of at least the tub's height, which is usually around a metre when it is on edge - so a side gate 900 mm wide stops the job. Where there is no side access, the alternatives are through the house, which most people decline, or a crane lift over the property, which is a specialist arrangement made separately.

Measure and photograph before booking: the narrowest point on the route, any steps or level changes, overhead obstructions, and the ground surface. Soft lawn, gravel and steep slopes all change the crew and equipment required.
