You've found the perfect sofa on eBay in Manchester. Or a motorbike listed in Glasgow. A kitchen appliance from a Gumtree seller in Newcastle. The problem is clear: Royal Mail and Evri don't collect bulky items. AnyVan and similar platforms operate as auction marketplaces where quality is variable, no-shows happen, and you bid against unknown drivers with no fixed price or service level guarantee.
T&C Logistics offers a different model: professional, fixed-price inter-city collection and delivery from UK marketplace platforms. We're a courier company, not a gig auction. You get signed proof of pickup and delivery, comprehensive cargo insurance, and a committed driver—not a variable bidding pool. Whether it's furniture, motorcycles, white goods, or garden equipment, we collect from the seller and deliver to your door across the UK.
What we collect
Our inter-city marketplace collection service handles the items buyers most often struggle to move:
- Furniture: sofas, armchairs, dining tables, beds, mattresses, wardrobes, cabinets, desks, bookcases.
- Motorcycles and mopeds: standard street bikes and smaller scooters (our tail-lift vans accommodate these asset-light loads efficiently).
- White goods: fridges, freezers, washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers.
- Gym equipment: treadmills, weight benches, rowing machines, stationary bikes.
- Garden tools and equipment: lawnmowers, strimmers, garden furniture sets.
- Children's bikes and scooters.
- Musical instruments: guitars, keyboards, drum kits, amplifiers (excluding pianos—outside our scope).
What we do NOT collect: raw building materials (bricks, timber, plasterboard), hazardous items (fuels, paints, chemicals), cash, firearms, or unregistered vehicles. If you're unsure about a specific item, ring us on +44 7963 400173 (06:00–17:00) or +44 7737 778964 (08:00–22:00).
"Marketplace collection is where we see the biggest frustration gap. Buyers spend hours negotiating price and arranging logistics, only to find standard carriers won't touch it, or gig-auction drivers don't show up. We exist to make that friction disappear." —Taras, Founder, T&C Logistics
How the buyer-side inter-city model works
The process is straightforward and removes uncertainty at every step:
- You book: submit your quote request via our contact form at tclogistics.uk/contact#quote-form, or phone us with pickup postcode, delivery postcode, and item description (dimensions and weight help us assign the right vehicle).
- We quote fixed price: based on distance, item size/weight band, and urgency. No bidding, no auction. One price, honoured.
- Seller confirms collection window: we coordinate a mutually convenient pickup slot (usually 2–4 hours), and the seller prepares the item.
- We collect: our driver arrives, inspects the item, photographs condition (important for insurance claims), and obtains a signed proof of pickup (POD) from the seller.
- We deliver: item travels in our vehicle to your address. On arrival, you inspect and sign the delivery POD.
- Done: both parties hold signed documentation; any damage claim is traceable and insured.
This model removes the no-show risk endemic to gig-auction platforms. You don't bid. You book. We arrive.
Inter-city buyer-seller flows tap the UK's total business ecosystem: London's 1,032,530 registered companies as the largest inbound and outbound market, Glasgow (67,891 companies), Manchester (part of Greater Manchester's ecosystem), Cardiff (30,508 companies), and Southampton (23,069 companies). Furniture, motorcycle, and appliance flows between these ecosystems drive the marketplace-collection demand.
Popular inter-city routes
Our network spans the UK, but certain inter-city corridors are particularly busy for marketplace collection:
- Manchester ⇄ London: sofas, kitchen appliances, motorcycles (very common route).
- Glasgow ⇄ Cardiff: furniture, gym equipment, garden goods.
- Newcastle ⇄ Bristol: white goods, beds, dining sets.
- Leeds ⇄ Birmingham: wardrobes, desks, musical instruments.
- Edinburgh ⇄ Manchester: motorcycles, larger furniture items.
We also operate fixed routes between London and the South East, including Leicester to London, Coventry to London, and Glasgow to London. If your pickup and delivery postcodes fall within our standard corridors, quoting is instant and pricing transparent. For less-travelled routes, our 24/7 dispatch team (365 days/year) will quote within the hour.
Concrete typical cargo per route: Manchester ⇄ London (M6/M1/M25 — sofas, wardrobes, gym equipment); Glasgow ⇄ Cardiff (M74/M6/M5 — furniture, gaming setups, kitchen equipment); Newcastle ⇄ Bristol (A1/A38 — motorcycles, tools, garden equipment); Leeds ⇄ Birmingham (M1/A38 — appliances, sofas); Edinburgh ⇄ Manchester (M74/M6 — full house-move loads, kitchen appliances). We also cover shorter regional corridors — Nottingham ⇄ Leicester, Coventry ⇄ Warwick, Bristol ⇄ Exeter — for buyers whose seller is one motorway junction away rather than a full inter-city journey.
Delivery windows are agreed at booking with both the seller and the buyer. Because you paid for the item and need it, and the seller is done with it once we collect, we run a single-leg mission: collect same day if arranged, transit overnight, deliver next day. Weekend collection is available on request for higher-value or larger items.
Fixed price vs AnyVan gig auction
Understanding the difference between a fixed-price courier and a gig-auction marketplace is critical when moving valuable or large items.
AnyVan, Shiply, CompareTheMan: these operate as two-sided marketplaces where drivers bid for loads in real-time. Advantages: theoretically competitive pricing. Disadvantages: variable driver quality, no guaranteed SLA, frequent no-shows, dispute resolution delays, and you have no recourse if a driver cancels after accepting.
T&C Logistics: we are a courier company. You get a fixed price before booking. Our fleet is our own; our drivers are committed to the job. We carry comprehensive cargo insurance as standard. Pickup and delivery are both signed off (chain of custody). If something goes wrong, you have a named business to pursue a claim against—not a marketplace intermediary.
For marketplace collection—where items are often secondhand, purchased at a negotiated price, and emotionally significant to the buyer—the certainty of a fixed-price, insured courier is worth the small premium over auction-style bidding.
Cargo insurance
All T&C Logistics shipments carry standard cargo cover. For typical marketplace items (furniture, white goods, motorcycles under £5,000), this is included in your quote at no extra cost.
How insurance works:
- You declare the item value at booking (estimated secondhand/purchase price).
- Our driver photographs condition before collection (critical for claims).
- If damage occurs in transit, we log a formal claim within 48 hours of delivery.
- Assessment is straightforward: photos pre-transit vs. post-delivery determine liability.
- Standard cover extends to £5,000 per shipment; higher declared-value items require specialist partner carrier placement (available on request) and a small premium.
Damage claims are rare—our drivers are trained in load securing for sofas, motorcycles, and appliances—but we make the process transparent. You get a clear damage protocol in writing when you book. For high-value or fragile items (antique furniture, collectible motorcycles), discuss declared value with our team when quoting.
Same-day and next-day options
Same-day collection and delivery is available for pickups and deliveries within London and the Heathrow catchment area (M1/M25 corridor). If you've spotted a bargain item locally and need it home the same day, call +44 7963 400173 before 14:00 to discuss rapid-window availability.
Next-day delivery is our standard across the UK for inter-city routes. You book in the morning, collection happens the same day or next morning (agreed with the seller), and delivery lands within 24 hours of collection for routes up to 500 miles.
Scheduled collections and deliveries are also available: if you need the pickup on a specific Saturday, or the delivery on a chosen weekday, we work around your schedule. Weekend collection is routinely available; just mention it in your quote form or on the phone.
How to book
Online quote form: visit tclogistics.uk/contact#quote-form. Enter pickup postcode, delivery postcode, and item description (e.g., 'three-seater fabric sofa, 2.2 m wide', or 'Honda CB500F motorcycle, 210 kg'). We'll email a fixed quote within one hour.
Phone quote: call +44 7963 400173 (06:00–17:00) or +44 7737 778964 (08:00–22:00). Our team will confirm vehicle type, insurance cover, and collection/delivery windows in real time.
Email: contact us via the website for non-urgent bookings (24–48 hour response).
Once you've accepted the quote, we send you a booking confirmation with the seller's collection window. Payment is typically due before pickup (card or bank transfer).
When you request a quote, we ask five things: (1) seller's postcode; (2) buyer's postcode; (3) item description and approximate dimensions (bed size, sofa 3-seater vs 4-seater, motorcycle model or engine size); (4) approximate weight — is it a one-person or two-person lift; and (5) any access considerations at either end (upstairs flat, no lift, narrow doorway, garden collection). From that we quote a fixed price. There is no bidding, no auction. If the quote works for you, we book — usually within a day of your call, weekend included where required.
Payment is straightforward: quote confirmed, we collect, we deliver. If you need us to collect payment from the buyer at delivery, that is a separate service we can quote for on request.
What we do not do
Transparency matters. Here's what's outside our remit:
- Assembly or disassembly: we lift and move items as-is. Dismantling a bed frame, disassembling flat-pack furniture, or removing a motorcycle engine is your responsibility (or the seller's).
- Auction handling: we don't bid on your behalf at eBay, Gumtree, or Facebook Marketplace. You arrange the purchase; we collect and deliver.
- International transport: we operate UK-wide only. EU and international routes are outside scope.
- Storage or holding: we collect and deliver on a fixed schedule. Long-term warehouse storage is not available.
If your item requires special handling (e.g., a piano, a signed artwork, or a rare motorcycle), please contact us before booking to discuss feasibility.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the price fixed, or will I be charged more if another driver bids lower?
- Fixed price, guaranteed. You get a quote upfront based on distance, item size, and weight band. No auction, no bidding, no surprise surcharges. We honour the price.
- Can you collect a sofa from Manchester and deliver it to London next day?
- Yes, that's one of our most common routes. Manchester to London furniture collection is standard next-day service. Call +44 7963 400173 or submit a quote at /contact#quote-form with the Manchester pickup and London delivery postcodes.
- Do you collect motorcycles?
- Yes. Standard street bikes and mopeds fit our tail-lift vans. We photograph condition before collection, secure the bike, and deliver with a signed POD. Larger or damaged bikes (non-running) may require specialist carrier placement—ask us when you quote.
- What if the item arrives damaged?
- Damage claims are covered by our standard cargo insurance. Our driver photographs condition pre-pickup and post-delivery. If damage is evident, we log a formal claim within 48 hours, compare photos, and process compensation based on declared value. Rare, but straightforward.
- Can you collect the same day?
- Same-day is available for London and Heathrow catchment (M1/M25 corridor) if you call before 14:00. Elsewhere, next-day is standard. Weekend collection is also possible—mention it when booking.
