The arrangement that works is your cash collection provider empties the machine first, then we collect the unit. Our goods-in-transit cover of £50,000 per consignment applies to the machine as equipment; it does not extend to currency, and currency should not be present. Where a vault cannot practically be removed on site, its contents remain the operator's risk.

Who removes the machine from its foundation?
Your installation contractor. Parking machines are bolted to a concrete plinth or a post and wired into a power and data supply, and freeing them is groundworks and electrical work rather than transport.
The sequence that works is: your contractor isolates power and data, disconnects, and releases the machine from its fixings; we collect the freed unit. A machine still bolted down is not a transport job, and a vehicle sent to one has made a wasted journey. Older installations may have corroded anchor bolts that need cutting, which takes longer than people expect.
The plinth or post also has to be made safe or made good after removal, which is a site matter. Tell us at quote stage whether the unit will be free-standing when we arrive - that single fact decides crew size, timing and whether the job is possible on the day at all.
Can you work in a live car park?
Yes, and most parking work happens in one. The constraints are traffic management, height restrictions and the fact that the machine's bay cannot simply be closed for a day.
Multi-storey car parks are the recurring problem: the height barrier at the entrance rules out most box vehicles, and a machine on level four has to come down either by the vehicle ramp or by a lift that may not take it. Establish the clearance height before the vehicle is allocated - it is usually posted at the entrance and it decides everything downstream.
Surface car parks are simpler but still need a plan for where the vehicle stands while the machine is handled, and whether bays need coning off. Where a site is busy, out-of-hours work is normally quicker and cheaper overall than working around traffic. Vehicles are ULEZ-compliant for central London sites and GPS-tracked throughout.
Can you handle an estate-wide upgrade programme?
Yes. Payment technology upgrades typically run across a whole estate at once, which makes them a routing and sequencing problem rather than a series of separate jobs.
The efficient pattern is two-way: new machines out, old machines back, on the same visit and the same vehicle. That halves the movements and means the site is never without equipment for longer than the swap takes. What makes these programmes fail is site data rather than transport. A car park whose access is through a barrier nobody has a fob for, a machine that turns out still to be bolted down, or a site contact who does not know the visit is happening. What happens to decommissioned machines?

Parking machines fall under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013 when scrapped. Clearing it is the operator's responsibility and should happen before disposal.

Can you carry EV charging equipment for car parks?
Yes. Charge points are increasingly installed alongside parking equipment, and they move the same way - bolted to a plinth, wired in, and freed by a contractor before collection.
A pedestal charge point typically weighs 30-90 kg and a wall unit rather less, while the associated distribution cabinet can be considerably heavier. The fragile elements are the connector cables and the display, both of which are exposed on a free-standing unit and both of which are expensive.
The electrical side is the contractor's throughout: isolation, disconnection, and at the destination the connection and commissioning, which involves the distribution network operator on larger installations. We transport the hardware between those points.
Where charge points are being replaced rather than newly installed, the removed units are electrical waste when scrapped and fall under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013.
